The Catfish Place is a family-owned and
operated restaurant. In 1973, along with my wife Judy and my 3 sons at
the time - Jeff, Bob and Alan - I left a 10 year career with
Metropolitan Life Insurance Company to try my hand at the restaurant
business. We opened the Catfish Place with 20 seats and 10 stools
and the menu included such items as chicken and sandwiches. After
a slow start, we decided we needed a special menu, something you
couldn't buy at a fast-food restaurant.
Since I am a native Floridian, we decided
to feature native Florida foods and for the past 28 years now, our
family has prided itself in serving its customers the freshest catfish
available. Our catfish is caught daily in Lake Okeechobee (they
are NOT pond raised). We prepare it fresh on the premises every
day (NEVER frozen). As catfish became a popular menu favorite, we
added other Florida specialties like soft-shell turtle from local lakes
and wild gator from the Central Florida marshes. To compliment
these Florida specialties, we developed our own cole slaw, hush
puppies, homemade hash browns sauces and breading mixes.
We would like to thank all of our faithful
