Quickly after the opening of the store Roy Raymond produced another way to appeal to the customers, a mail order catalog. This technique of selling lingerie was a hit and saved the embarrassed men the extra effort of even going into the stores; it also saved the female customers the time as well. After the catalog took off Roy Raymond opened up three more locations. At this rate, Raymond was growing rapidly in 1982 he sold Victoria’s Secret to The Limited. The Limited kept everything the same during their building as Victoria’s Secret began to rapidly grow during the 1980’s. Expanding the product line beyond lingerie and adding items such as shoes, evening wear, and perfumes as well as sending out the mail order catalog 8 times annually. By the early 1990’s Victoria’s Secret became Americas Largest Lingerie Retailer with sales topping $1 Billion. The Limited then sold 75% of its company to Sun Capital Partners where they focused more on the company as well as other stores such as Bath & Body Works.
