AAA: the most trusted auto club in America
Roughly two weeks ago, I was at school, which I am at Monday through Thursday, two of those days I go to a campus that is about an hour away from my house. Well, on one of the days that I was at the far away campus I went to move my car from one parking lot to another because the walk is absolutely atrocious and if I try to talk it I will more than likely be late for my next class. I walk out to the car as speedy as I can and I start to rummage around in my purse to find my keys. I’m getting irritated because I can not find them right off, so I begin to huff and puff and I eventually give up, dropping my bag on the ground so that I can use both hands in my car key quest. I’m looking and looking and still can not find them.
Now I’ve moved past irritated into a frantic panic, going absolutely mind blank. I start pulling first the large things out of my purse, then smaller ones, until eventually everything is out and clearly there is no key. That’s when I remember. I switched my purses put while I was sitting in my car. I had been in a hurry then too, and I realize that I forgot to take the car keys that I had placed in the side pocket. So that means the keys were still in the side pocket, which is in my other purse, which is inside my truck, which is, of course, locked. Basically, I locked myself out of my car. Not only did that mean I had to find a way to get it opened so I could go home, but it also meant that I had to race to my next class while juggling how to figure out how I was going to get my car opened.
Luckily, I had someone leave work, go to my house, grab my spare key, and drive it to me. Talk about out of the way. I did not have AAA, and boy was I wishing I was. Then, just today, I did the unthinkable. I go out to my car to switch my books for my next class and I go through the whole scenario of the key hunt in my purse. I look inside the window and there are my keys, laying perfectly on the passengers seat. So close, yet so far away. This time however, I did have AAA. They were there within five minutes, and I wasn’t even late to class! I had been completely against getting roadside assistance from AAA before the first time I locked my keys in my truck. After much pleading, I was persuaded just to go ahead and get it just in case it happens again. However, in the back of my mind I was thinking, “this only happens to you once in your life, what are the odds of it actually happening again? Um ZERO. What a waste of money”. Then after the second time, I have become a full AAA believer.
