Debbie Reynolds is known to many people as a legend, she has done so much for more than six decades. Reynolds is a singer, actress, and dancer who has done many show and has made a positive impression on so many people. This amazing talented lady was born on April 1, 1932 in El Paso, Texas, her full name is Mary Frances Reynolds. She was often called “Frannie” by her own family and friends when she was just a child. When “Frannie” was just sixteen years old she entered a beauty pageant that was hosted by the Lockheed Aircraft, not only did she enter it she also won the pageant. Her talent in the pageant was to lip sync a song called “I’m a Square in the Social Circle” by Betty Hutton’s. Two of the judges at this pageant were part of the Warner Bros and MGM, the two scouts had to flip a coin to see who could offer “Frannie” a screen test first. The scout from Warner Bros won the coin toss and offered her a contract for 65 dollars a week after her screen test because she was so amazing.

Jack Warner was the one to change Mary’s name to Debbie and he also wanted to change her last name to Morgan but Mary would not let that happen, she was adamant on keeping her last name Reynolds. The Warner Bros also wanted her to leave her public school but Mary’s mother was very strict about her not changing her education, so her mother got her into John Burrough’s High School with a special adjusted schedule. Warner Bros was not able to find very many roles and skits for Debbie with her age and experience, after her contract with them they did not pick up the second portion. Debbie did a role in Three Little Words with Fred Astaire and Red Skelton which confirmed MGM’s interest and she ended up signing a seven year contract with MGM for 300 dollars a week. MGM was able to open her career a little bit more than Warner Bros could and they got her many different roles to play. She landed roles in Two Weeks With Love, USO, Mash, RKO, Susan Slept Here, and many others. Be sure to check out Debbie Reynolds at a great price when you use discount concert tickets.

In the mid to late fifties Debbie got married, had two children, and then got divorced. She got married to Eddie Fisher who was a teen idol and singer in the Hollywood scene. They had baby girl named Carrie in 1956 and a baby boy named Todd Emanuel in 1958. Eddie’s best friend Mike Todd died in a plane crash shortly after and with that Eddie was constantly comforting Mike’s wife Elizabeth and he fell in love with her. Therefore, Eddie and Debbie divorced in 1959, but on the upside for Debbie she was in the top ten box office stars of the year in that same year. In 1960 Debbie married millionaire Harry Karl as well as formed her own productions company called Harman Productions. This entitled her to a one million dollar contract with ABC and she got to produce a variety of annual TV shows. Along with all of that she even formed her own nightclub act and showcased it at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. Later Debbie started to free lance and she began a contract with NBC and started her comedy show called “The Debbie Reynolds Show”.

In 1973 her marriage with Karl failed and they got a divorce. She went through a struggle financially but pulled through after her musical hit Irene. She married her third husband named Richard Hamlett, the two together bought and rebuilt the Paddlewheel Hotel in Las Vegas. They renamed it the Debbie Reynolds’ Hollywood Hotel and Casino, inside the hotel it displayed all of Debbie’s costumes, props, and sets. She divorced Hamlett in 1994 after the hotel and casino failed financially. Debbie Reynolds has had many ups and downs and for the most part she is a very comedic idol.
