Gary Allan Herzberg is the proper name for the American country music artist known as just Gary Allan. He was born on December 5, 1967 and first signed with Decca Records in 1996. The release of his first single called “Her Man” was the one that got him started as an artist. This single was also on his gold certified album called Used Heart For Sale, this album was released in 1996 with Decca Records. His second album called It Would Be You was then released in 1998 also with Decca Records. For Gary Allan’s third album he signed with MCA Nashville and then released the album called Smoke Rings in the Dark. This album was labeled as a platinum album which was his first of his career. The music artist Gary Allan was born in La Mirada, California. His parents, Harley and Mary Herzberg wanted the whole family to focus on music.

To make sure that is always the focus they always kept the family guitar in a visible spot throughout the house. Gary started playing the “honky tonks” with his father at the young age of thirteen. Then a short two years later he was offered his very first recording contract by A&M Records but Allan did not take the contract. His parents did not want him to take the deal because they wanted him to finish school and his father did not think he had found his own style yet. Allan played all night in bars and went to school during the day, although he says she was half asleep while in class from being so tired. He finally finished school and continued to play in the bars with the band, the band's name was the Honky Tony Wranglers. He then married model Danette Day on November 28, 1998, divorced her and married Angela shortly after Christmas in 2000. Angela committed suicide on October 25, 2004. Gary Allan is a Mormon and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served in the United States Navy. Gary got started by being introduced to songwriter/producer Byron Hill on August 28, 1993 through a mutual friend by the name of Jim Seal. Allan did some regular performing at the bar called Lion D’or in Downey, California. Hill and Seal asked Allan if they could use his showcase for an act they were trying to put together. Hill also arranged for the head of A&R to be there and he promised Allan he would make sure the guy stayed for his performance as well.
