The three times World Champions are also known as the New England Patriots football team. Their star player and quarterback is Tom Brady, he is known worldwide by so many people adults and kids the same. Football first started in New England on November 16, 1959 with a group of businessmen. The leader of this group was former public relations executive William H. “Billy” Sullivan Jr. One of the first things the group did was held a public contest to name the franchise. There were thousands of entries submitted and the winning name was The Boston Patriots.

The team logo was a drawing of a cartoon Minuteman preparing to snap a football, they named it “Pat Patriot”. The very first home field was the Boston University Field also known as the former home of the Boston Braves. In the season of 1963 the Patriots were moved to Fenway Park for home games. The Patriots were tired of playing in four different sites including Boston University Field, Harvard Stadium, Fenway Park and Boston College Alumni, so they made Foxborough their new home of the team. The team was renamed the New England Patriots in March of 1971 and they played their first game at Schaefer Stadium in Foxborough in April. This made a team record for the Patriots making it the third consecutive season they qualified for the postseason.
