Carson Wayne Newton was originally born in Norfolk, Virginia on April 3, 1942, he is widely known as just Wayne Newton and is an American singer and entertainer mostly in Las Vegas. He has been in Las Vegas for so long that they even gave him the name Mr. Las Vegas. All together Newton has performed more than 30,000 shows in Las Vegas and all of them were solos. Some of his most popular songs include 1972’s “Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast”, “Years”, “Red Roses for a Blue Lady”, and “Danke Schoen”. At the young age of just six years old, Newton was in Roanoke, North Carolina while his father was in the United States Navy.

Not long after that his family moved to Newark, Ohio and Newton started singing and performing in local bars and clubs, theaters, and fairs along with his older brother Jerry. When Newton was in high school he was still performing with his brother and a booking agent from Las Vegas saw a local TV show where they were performing and decided to take them for an audition. The brothers were then signed for just two weeks but ended up performing for five years with six shows a day. The brothers then performed on The Jackie Gleason Show on September 29, 1962 and over the next two years Newton performed on the show twelve times. During 1980 and 1982 Newton became half owner of the Aladdin Hotel but that led to many lawsuits and after Newton tried to purchase the entire hotel in 1983, it fell through. By 1994, Newton had already performed his 25,000th solo show just in Las Vegas. Newton signed a 10 year contract with Stardust in 1999 so he can perform there 40 weeks out of the year.
